Converge are one of the most important bands in my life. I have a You Fail Me tattoo and a 2002 tour poster on my wall. So, when Iron Heart took us to Outbreak to film them, I saw a chance not just to meet a hero, but to say thank you in the most honest way I knew.

I made a music video for 'It Used to Matter' from Converge's album Hum of Hurt with my friend Matt Lansdown. Everything was done practically. No AI, no generative effects. We even 3D printed a skull to set on fire.

I took it to Outbreak, quietly, just a private Vimeo link and asked Jacob if-if I could send it over. Two days after emailing it, he replied, "This is wonderful. Could we use this?" That was it. In the space of a week, a personal thank you became an official Converge music video.

Released July 8th, it has since reached over 183 thousand views in just over two months. But more than numbers, it's been embraced by the band and their fans and stands as one of the proudest pieces of work I've ever made.
It’s a reminder too: Make the thing. Shoot your shot. Sometimes the work you want to be asked to make, is the work you make first
